Why weren't women allowed to wear pants

In the 1850's, women were expected to be "formally dressed" with multi-layered skirts, and dresses. Then people started arguing for dress reform, and some women of bloomers and short skirts were at risk of arrest. According to www.latimes.com, Kindergarten Teacher, Helen Hulick wore slacks in a courtroom, giving her a five day jail sentence.

Helen Hulick was arrested because, people thought that it was disrespectful for women to show their legs, also with personal opinions people thought that men had their own clothing, and women had their own clothing. She claimed "I have been wearing pants since I was 15, they are very comfortable and create a different formality."
I think Helen Hulick is an important part of history, and I am very happy that she stood up for this.

Women & Pants

Everyone has their own personal preference, However I think that pants are unisex pieces of clothing. Like skirts, heels, and etc. I think its amazing for women to wear pants! According to www.stuffmomnevertoldyou.com 9 women got arrested for wearing pants in 1943. Here's a question for you, Would You Arrest Me or Any Other Female for Wearing Pants? If you say yes, then why? Everyone has there own style. Men use to wear heels, but even though my mom wore them yesterday that doesn't make me feel any different. In my opinion, that's crazy for people to judge others by the way they dress and look. The problem with this judgement is how people judge someone. Men wear pants, women wear pants. Honestly what was the issue and how does it relate to the Mystery of Fashion?

Would you agree with this statement?
They do say dress to impress.

Imani

About Me-

My name is Imani Allen. I am an artistic, fun, active person. I love fashion, and that's what my blog will be about. Fashion isn't just about clothes. Its also about culture, and personal preference. Everyone has their own opinions about things, and some can be positive, and some can be negative. I want this blog to help show that people can be themselves with style.
